What message are you receiving?
- FAILED REGISTRATION – If your thermostat is showing a "failed registration," message, continue to the Failed Registration section.
- ALREADY REGISTERED – If your thermostat is showing an "already registered," message, continue to the Already Registered section.
Failed Registration
1. Are you connected to WiFi?
- YES – Continue to the next step.
- NO – Continue to Step 9.
2. Restart your router.
3. Make sure your router isn't using any advanced security settings.
Advanced security settings include VPNs and network switches with separate firewalls.
4. Is your thermostat still showing a registration error message?
- YES – Continue to the next step.
- NO – Congratulations! You've fixed your thermostat's registration error messages! You are now complete.
5. Set up your thermostat on a different wireless network.
6. Is your thermostat still showing a registration error message?
- YES – Continue to the next step.
- NO – Congratulations! You've fixed your thermostat's registration error messages! You are now complete.
7. Can you use your phone as a WiFi hotspot?
- YES – Connect your thermostat to your phone's WiFi hotspot. Continue to the next step.
- NO – Contact Support at 1-855-733-5465 to find a pro-installer in your area.
8. Is your thermostat still showing a registration error message?
- YES – Contact Support at 1-855-733-5465 to find a pro-installer in your area.
- NO – Congratulations! You've fixed your thermostat's registration error messages! You are now complete.
Thermostat-Network Pairing Issues (Same as in WiFi FAQ)
9. Turn off your mobile phone's cellular/mobile data.
10. Turn on your mobile phone's WiFi.
Connect your phone to the same network that you're connecting your thermostat too.
11. Make sure you're using the correct WiFi password.
12. Make sure you're not connecting to a Guest network.
13. Make sure you're connecting to a 2.4 gigahertz (GHz) network.
Honeywell connected thermostats work best with a 2.4 GHz network.
14. Make sure your connecting directly to a router, and not a router accessory.
Examples of router accessories include repeaters and signal boosters.
15. Make sure your router hasn't reached its max number of devices.
Routers typically can only handle a specific number of devices.
16. Make sure your router is using Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).
When a router is using DHCP, it automatically assigns internet protocol (IP) addresses to each device. Honeywell connected devices work best with DHCP.
17. Make sure your router isn't using any advanced security settings.
Advanced security settings include VPNs and network switches with separate firewalls.
18. Is your app pairing with your thermostat now?
- YES – Congratulations! You've fixed your WiFi issue! Continue to Step 1.
- NO – Contact Support at 1-855-733-5465 to find a pro-installer in your area.
Already Registered
19. Do you know the previous owner?
- YES – Contact the previous owner and tell them to delete your device from their Honeywell app or portal. Continue to the next step.
- NO – Contact Support at 1-855-733-5465 to find a pro-installer in your area. Keep in mind that you'll need to be near your thermostat.
20. Is your thermostat still showing a registration error message?
